Irving Planer Mill Expansion Project Irving Forest Products, Inc., Dixfield, ME

Dixfield, Maine

In April 2019, Bancroft Contracting was selected by Irving Forest Products to act as the construction manager for the expansion of their Planer Mill. Bancroft oversaw the entire project, managing subcontractors from the bidding phase all the way through to project closeout.

A portion of the work was self-performed by Bancroft, which included several key aspects:

Demolition of Existing Structures

The first step involved carefully demolishing existing structures to make way for the new expansion.

New 36,000 Square Foot Building

Bancroft managed the construction of a new building that abuts the existing planer mill. This addition was essential to accommodate the expanded operations.

Upgrades to the Existing Planer Mill

As part of the project, Bancroft also installed new siding and roofing on the existing planer mill building, ensuring it remained operational and up to modern standards.

Throughout the construction, the existing planer mill continued its production without interruption, demonstrating Bancroft’s capability to manage active facilities and coordinate complex construction projects around ongoing operations.

This project showcased Bancroft’s expertise across multiple disciplines, including demolition, structural concrete and steel, utilities, mechanical installation, and commercial finishes. The entire project was completed within 13 months, highlighting Bancroft’s efficiency and ability to manage large-scale projects with multiple moving parts.
