At the new home of the Crane and Rigging Division Laydown Yard in South Paris, 5 cranes were prepped and assembled for OSHA inspections. With flying colors, the Liebherr LR 1500 crawler, both LTM 1750s, and LRT 1100-2, as well as the Link-Belt RTC8065 and RTC8090, have passed and are ready to go for the next year.

Along the Kennebec River and Route 201, between Skowhegan and The Forks, is the small town of Bingham. Only a handful of miles east of the town is the 186 mega-Watt Bingham Wind Farm Project, which is home to fifty-six Vestas V112-3.3 mega-Watt wind turbine generators, each mounted on a 94-meter (308’ 5”) tall tower.

The Crane and Rigging Crew has mobilized back to this wind farm to perform a gearbox exchange with one of the Liebherr LTM1750s. During the week leading up to the April snow storm, the crew hauled trailer after trailer up to the site in preparation for the exchange. The following week, the crew assembled the crane, that had taken 26 trailers to transport, into the 950-ton lifting capacity behemoth that would ultimately perform the transfer on Thursday.
