Bancroft Contracting Corporation is a family-owned, self-performing industrial contracting company, headquartered in the western Maine town of South Paris.

After years of work in construction, Al Bancroft founded Bancroft Contracting in August 1977. In the early years, the company’s bread and butter was working in paper mills and hydroelectric facilities and earning a reputation for doing the work the right way, the first time. As the years went by, Bancroft Contracting began to work in more and more industrial paper and pulp mills throughout the state of Maine and other parts of New England.

In March of 2002, Al’s son, Mark, took over as President of Bancroft Contracting and 2 years later, purchased the company. Over the last twenty years, Bancroft Contracting has doubled-down on and bolstered the strengths of its origin—in both hydropower and industrial mill works—while simultaneously growing its offerings and entering into new markets—such expanded crane service and wind turbine retrofitting and maintenance.

While simultaneously taking on these new projects Bancroft Contacting has strictly adhered to exceptional standards in safety, quality, professionalism, and integrity. This combination has ushered in of a new era of work on renewable mechanical and civil engineering projects and has further bolstered the company’s reputation as the contractor of choice for industrial clients of Northern New England.

Bancroft Contracting employs a flexible workforce of seasoned construction professionals who choose to work in a merit shop environment. Bancroft’s construction professionals are experts in at least one construction craft, with most working capably in several. This flexibility allows Bancroft to self-perform nearly every aspect of the projects we undertake.

Bancroft Contracting works continuously throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Bancroft is also available to mobilize promptly to Massachusetts, southern New England, New York, and the Mid-Atlantic region. On an occasional basis, Bancroft has performed services as far west as Chicago and Michigan, and as far south as Louisiana.
