Bancroft Contracting’s Mechanical Trades work industrial, commercial, and residential construction sites. The positions require heavy physical work under all environmental conditions. Good physical conditioning is important to success in the positions. Familiarity with the use of common hand and power tools is a pre-requisite. The positions require travel — either a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, or a practical alternative plan for getting to the jobsite, is a requirement of the job.

Basic Metal Working and Mechanical Practices
Assist mechanical trades under the direct supervision of a lead millwright, welder, pipefitter, ironworker, or crew foreman. Has ability to cut and shape metals with powered hacksaws, grinders, and/or an oxy-fuel torch. Efficiently assembles and disassembles mechanical systems under the supervision of a crew foreman.

Rigging
Under the supervision of a crane operator, journey-level craftsman, or crew foreman, conduct rigging operations routinely, competently, safely, and independently for materials and equipment for movement by hand or by on-site mobile crane, backhoe, forklift or other powered lifting device.

A typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with opportunities for additional work on weekends for most jobsites.
